Alvin Julian Weber, III passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday October 4th, 2012 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was the son of Dr. & Mrs. Alvin Julian Weber, Jr. of Knoxville, Tn. He grew up in Knoxville, and graduated from Tennessee Military Institute in Sweetwater. After graduating from the University of Tennessee Medical School he interned at UT Memorial Hospital in Knoxville. Dr. Weber then completed the naval flight surgeon program in Pensacola, FL and served with Attack Carrier Air Wing 10 on the USS Shangri-La. After the Navy he completed an Internal Medicine residency at the VA hospital in Memphis then practiced in Sheffield, AL for several years before moving back to Memphis. After his return he achieved board certification in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiology. He became Chief of Nuclear Medicine at Methodist Hospital where his passion for medicine was demonstrated by his dedication to his work and his love of teaching residents and medical students. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a loyal friend, a good story and joke teller, history buff, obscure fact source and Smokey Mountain hiker. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years Judith Rowe Weber, sons, Alvin Julian Weber IV (Laurie) and Philip Rowe Weber (Marian), and grandchildren, Alvin Julian Weber V, Kathryn Marian Weber, Charlotte Elizabeth Weber, and Emily Grafton Weber. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Neighborhood School P.O. Box 11109, 175 North Tillman Street Memphis, TN 38111. Visitation will be at St. John's Episcopal Church on Central Avenue at 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 preceded by a private burial service.
