Alvis Letimon Hillman Sr., aged 74, peacefully passed away after a courageous 19-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He departed this life at home, overlooking his serene pond and the beautiful landscape he cherished, as he walked into the loving arms of his maker and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Alvis, affectionately known as "Al," dedicated 44 years of his life to his career as an operations manager at AFCO Metals/Ryerson. His journey began in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he played a pivotal role in opening a plant in Wichita, Kansas, in the early 1990s. He concluded his esteemed career at the Shreveport, Louisiana, plant. A proud American, Al served his country in the Vietnam War as a military police officer in Atlanta, Georgia.
Al's passions were as diverse as they were fulfilling. He found joy in fishing, hunting, golfing, and playing dominoes. Lunchtime checkers at work brought him simple pleasure, and his green thumb was evident in his greenhouse and garden. Al's heart swelled with pride as he watched and attended Razorback games, creating cherished memories along the way.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Brenda Hillman. Their marriage was a union filled with joy and laughter, marked by cruises, trips, and treasured times at storage wars, flea markets, casinos, and dining out.
He leaves behind daughter, Sheila Clark (Jon) of Cabot, Arkansas, and son, Alvis "Bubba" Hillman Jr. (Jeanetta) of
Jacksonville, Arkansas. Al's legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and his cherished siblings, Barbara Etue (Clayton) of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Martha Stevens (Kenneth) of
Jacksonville, Arkansas. His family extends to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Al was preceded in death by his first wife of 40 years, Alice Hillman, daughter Kimberly Hendrix, grandson Joshua Garcia; and parents, Armon Oneal and Odell Marie (Perser) Hillman. He is also reunited with six siblings, Nellie Jarrard, Leo Hillman, Neva Wilson, Sharon Miller, Charlotte Hillman, and David Hillman.
The Hillman family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alvin Weir of the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, for his unwavering kindness and support during Al's illness.Alvis Letimon Hillman Sr. will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever remain a source of inspiration and love for all who knew him.
Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 N JP Wright Loop Road,
Jacksonville, Arkansas, with burial to follow at Arkansas Memorial Gardens in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service begging at 1:00p.m. at the funeral home.
