Alyce Archer Dana, age 80 passed on peacefully December 15, 2025, in the presence of family and her friend and caregiver, Shannon.
Alyce had a full and adventuresome life. Born at the end of WWII in Greenwood, Mississippi, she grew up in state, first in the Delta, but mostly in Gulfport, where she was a proud graduate of Gulfport High (Class of '63). After graduating from MSCW with an arts major, she lived in Michigan, New England, and later in North Carolina, eventually returning to her beloved Gulf Coast.
Alyce found joy in the outdoors-gardening, birding, visiting natural areas-as well as the world of art. She was active in Christian Science church and community for many years.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Finlay Dana and Caleb Henry Dana, and by her brother Tom Dana. She is survived by her brothers Robert Dana (Mary), Caleb Dana, Jr. (Jackie), and Charles Dana (Diane). She is also survived by one nephew and six nieces, one of whom, Genya Dana, has been like a daughter to her. She also leaves behind three first cousins.
Alyce will be remembered for her generous spirit, cheerful optimism, and enthusiastic story telling. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
