Alyce Jarr Obituary

Alyce Jarr

Elkhart Lake - Alyce Jarr, age 98, of Elkhart Lake, WI, passed away Tuesday (July 20, 2021) at Cedar Bay Assisted Living in Elkhart Lake where she had been a resident for the last 7 weeks.

She was born on March 3, 1923 in Maple Grove, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Thomas and Bernice (Engels) Watt.

Alyce attended St. Patrick's Elementary School in Maple Grove and graduated from Reedsville High School.

On September 30, 1944 she married Jack Jarr in Quantico, VA. The couple resided in Elkhart Lake since 1979. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.

Alyce was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

She loved playing Bridge, reading, and was always well-informed about current events and enjoyed following the many sports teams in Wisconsin.

Alyce was extremely humorous and used her rapier-like wit to cut to the heart of any topic she would be discussing.

She is survived by: four children: Ron (Mary) Jarr of Grafton, Bob (Kay) Jarr of Crystal Lake, Bill (Sheila) Jarr of Smyrna, GA, and Pat (Dick) Jepsen of Washington Island; daughter-in-law: Linda Jarr of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren: Tina (John) Carpenter, Andrew (Ellen) Jarr, Aron (Sarah) Jarr, Alison (Christian) Marx, Alexis (Chris) Pallis, Adam (Breanna) Jarr, Derek (Lisa) Jarr, Nicole Jarr, Kelly (Matt) Weigand and Shannon (Ross) Eggert; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Helen McDonald of CA and Lois Wood of AZ; and sister-in-law: Elaine Schuenemann of Menomonee Falls.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Alyce was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; son: Jim Jarr; and brother-in-law: Don (Jackie) Jarr.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday morning (July 26, 2021) at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. Father Philip Reifenberg, Pastor of the church will officiate.

Friends may call at the CHURCH on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Cremation will take place following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established in Alyce's name for Anchor of Hope Health Center in Sheboygan, and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

We offer our sincere condolences. My sister (Mary Martin Jarr) and her husband (Ron Jarr) always spoke so highly of Alyce. She meant so much to them. I remember meeting Alyce many years ago! She led an exemplary life and will be missed.

To- Mary, Ron, kay, bob, shelia, bill, Patricia and Dick and all the grandchildren and great grandchildren you have been privileged to be a part of Alyce. Growing up I admired her looks, especially when she was chosen to represent Wisconsin as Dairy Queen, her determination, her people skills and her devotion to God. To me she was an example of love, strength, compassion and her willing to never give up, kept us all focused. She had such great common sense and commitment. She never forgot st. Patrick´s day. I can smile because Alyce has lived, I can laugh because I can see all she has left. I will cherish all our memories and let them live on. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but our love leaves a memory no on can steal. She will be remembered in masses sent to fr. Reifenberg. Love to all helen

Aunts Helen and Lois, and the entire Jarr family, Eleanor and I offer you are deepest sorrow and condolences. I have only the fondest memories of Alyce, "Uncle Jack", and all of my late mother Janet´s brothers and sisters from since I was a small child. They were all beautiful, successful, strong, tough, funny, loving, giving, and closely knit siblings, and I was very fortunate to have been Blessed by having them as Aunts and Uncles and role models throughout my life. It´s with great sadness to learn of her passing, and the passing of her Generation, who all endured and gave so much of themselves so that their progeny, America, and The World, would move from the depths of poverty to the height of prosperity. We "owe" them a great deal and I will never forget her, or them.
Eleanor and I give Aunt Helen, Lois, and Alyce´s family our
prayers, sympathy and Best Wishes.

I am very sorry for the loss of Alyce. I first met her when her husband was admitted to Cedar Landing to live. Her and I hit it off real well. She loved my dancing around and joke telling. Just a week ago, she was laughing and smiling at my dancing. I truly enjoyed knowing not only Alyce but also Jack...both were wonderful people to know. May God's peace be with each family and friends of Alyce. My memories will always be fond of her and she will never be forgotten.
