Alyson Teresa Berry of Newburgh, aged 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024. She was born December 1, 1958 in Plainfield, NJ to Joyce and Iver Berry Jr. She was a 1977 graduate of Sparta High School in Sparta, NJ and attended Bay State Jr College in Boston, MA. Alyson traveled primarily to Asia a lot early in her career while working in the travel industry. She was a proud resident of Newburgh, NY and loved returning to her childhood town of Cooperstown, NY annually. Her love for her boys led her to establish the Dreams Foundation, a local organization committed to helping children with all kinds of disabilities participate in sports as well as being an active Board Member & President at Newburgh Pop Warner Football.
Alyson was very outgoing, kind, compassionate and had an ability to bring a smile to everyone's face. She loved nothing more than being with her dog and reading a good book on the beach. She is predeceased by her parents, Iver & Joyce Berry, her son, Brian Jeffery Buzzi, and her dogs whom she adored, Coco and Maggy. She is survived by her son, Kris Sweetser; her son, Sean Sweetser and his wife, Giovanna Muise; an older brother, Iver Berry III and his wife, Linda Berry; a younger sister, Merideth Van Auken and her husband, Charles Van Auken; and her nieces, Marissa Emanuel, Bethany Murphy, Kaitlyn Swe, & Megan Swe; as well as her many cousins. All are invited to a Memorial Visitation at Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue from 1-3 pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024 to reminisce and honor the sweet life of Alyson Berry.
