Alyssa Wiggins

Alyssa Necla Wiggins, born on August 3rd, 1992, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, was called home on March 4th, 2026. Alyssa was a bright light to all who knew her-known for her kind heart, joyful spirit, and deep love for her family.

From an early age, Alyssa's natural athletic ability shone through. She excelled in both basketball and track, becoming a standout athlete whose determination, competitive spirit, and love of sports created countless cherished memories for her family. Her passion and drive were evident in everything she pursued.

After achieving the remarkable milestone of scoring 1,000 points in basketball at Kingsway High School, Alyssa continued her academic and athletic journey at Widener University, where she proudly earned her bachelor's degree. Though her playing days came to an end, her love for sports never faded. She could always be found cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines, whether at games, recitals, or activities for her daughter, nieces, and cousins-offering unwavering support and encouragement.

Above all else, Alyssa's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her daughter, Layla. Being Layla's mother was the role she treasured most. Her smile was never brighter than when they were together. Alyssa was delighted in watching Layla thrive in her academic and extracurricular activities and spoke of her often, with immense pride and love.

Alyssa will be remembered for her athletic talent, her vibrant and fun-loving personality, and the deep love she shared with those closest to her. Most especially, she will be remembered for the extraordinary bond she shared with Layla. A bond filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable connection that was at the very heart of Alyssa's life.

She is survived by her beloved Daughter, Layla M. McLeod; her Sisters, Kyrene A. Wiggins (Djamal Kirby) and Alexis V. Wiggins; Nieces Amarah Y. Kirby and Arya L. Kirby, Aunts, Audrey Ames, Vallere Long-Liles (Reginald Liles), Renee Lisby, Verda Long; Uncles, John Ames, Rick Lisby; Grandmother, Victoria Lisby and Maternal figure Yasmeen McLeod and many cherished relatives and loved ones who will forever hold her memory close.

Alyssa was preceded in death by her loving mother, Vonzetta M. Long, and her father, Tyrone L. Wiggins.

Though she is no longer with us, Alyssa's legacy lives on through the love she gave and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
