Amada Hill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Jan. 28, 2026.
Amada (Amy) CastelanHill peacefully passed away in her home, while surrounded by family, on January 6th, 2026, at the age of 90.

She was born January 2nd, 1936 in Nextlalpan Mexico, to Gabriel and Elizabeth Castelan. She was the eldest of 9 children.

Amy was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served two missions.

She graduated with her associates in applied science from the Utah Technical College in 1976. She worked as a cashier and secretary for BYU and retired after 30 years.

Amy loved art, skilled with oil painting and pencil drawings. She spent hours everyday on her garden and floral arrangements. She loved her years spent on genealogy research with Johnny Mathis playing in the background. She loved her family, fiercely and proudly.

Amy was brave, traveling the world and putting herself out there to give her son a better life. She was intelligent, teaching herself a new language and putting herself through college. She was loyal, to the Church and teachings that guided her life. She was loving to her family, friends, neighbors, and the local stray cats. She was beautiful, with her hair permed until the end. She was the perfect balance of stubborn and caring.

She is survived by her son, Paul Grant Hill, her daughter in law, MaryAnn Hill, her grandchildren Christopher David Magriplis, Patrick Grant Hill, Abby Elizabeth Hill, and her great-grandchildren, Linkoln Bayasal Magriplis, and Theodore Maximus Magriplis.

The family wishes to express particular appreciation to the Belle Vie Hospice staff, the entire Castelan clan, and her ward.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00pm, 780 West 500 South, Payson on Saturday January 31st, 2026.
