Amanda Ninon Kingston Greely, age 46, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2025. Born on February 21, 1979, Amanda lived a life filled with determination, love, and a healthy dose of joyful stubbornness. Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made will be forever cherished.
Amanda's childhood was a sun-kissed adventure, filled with beach days and spirited softball games. If there was water to be found, you could bet Amanda was diving in. Her athletic prowess shone early, as she excelled as a three-sport varsity athlete at Fitch Senior High School, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. She graduated from Fitch Senior High School in Groton, CT, and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT-a feat she accomplished with her signature work ethic, paying her way through college. It was during her time at Sacred Heart that Amanda embraced a new and demanding challenge as a member of the women's club crew team. She often remarked that she was never in better shape or more physically challenged than during her time on the crew team, a testament to her tenacious spirit.
Professionally, Amanda was a force to be reckoned with. For over two decades, she excelled as a Project Manager in the healthcare digital solutions industry. Beginning at United Healthcare in 1998, she dedicated eight years to delivering quality results. Later, she spent over 14 years at Cigna, where her commitment and expertise shone brightly
However, Amanda's greatest accomplishments were her children, Gabrielle (Gigi) and Ryder Greely. She adored watching them grow, beaming with pride at their Taekwondo and soccer achievements. She marveled at Gigi's artistic talents, a skill she always secretly envied, and cherished Ryder's sweet snuggles.
Amanda was a woman of unwavering determination. When she set her mind to something, nothing could stop her. She was smart, often outshining her siblings in academic pursuits, and possessed a loving heart, even if she sometimes struggled to express it fully. And let's not forget her legendary stubbornness, a trait that both challenged and endeared her to those who loved her.
Beyond her children and family, Amanda had a deep affection for animals. Her first great love, Chaz, an English Labrador Retriever, stole her heart during her college years, setting the stage for a lifetime of furry companions. Amanda also found great comfort and strength in her faith, and cherished the community she found at Waxhaw United Methodist Church.
During her courageous battle with a difficult illness, Amanda found unwavering support and care in the home of her dear friend, Judy Benzel. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Judy for her immeasurable love, friendship, and kindness, and for welcoming Amanda into her home with open arms.
Amanda is lovingly remembered by her children, Gabrielle Greely and Ryder Greely; her former spouse, Dustin Greely; her siblings, Hope Cahoon and her husband W. Casey Cahoon, Timothy Kingston and his wife Loni Kingston, and Eric Kingston; her stepmother, Gail Kingston; her former mother-in-law, Silky Horton; and her nieces and nephews, W. Cole Cahoon, Cameron Cahoon, Paige Cahoon, Noah Kingston, Ireland Kingston, and Chloey Kingston. She was predeceased by her parents, Dewey B. Kingston III and Jacqueline R. Lavelle.
A memorial service to celebrate Amanda's life will be held at Waxhaw United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 3:00PM. A visitation will be held after the service in the fellowship hall.
