Madeline June (Mitchell) Greely, age 94, of Tewksbury, passed away on September 23, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin M. Greely.
Born in Somerville, Madeline was the daughter of the late John J. and Ellen (Griffiths) Mitchell.
She was raised and educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School.
Madeline worked in the restaurant business for many years, notably for Daka International, which supplied food service to many Boston area restaurants. She began her career in the 1970's at the Tech Square house in Cambridge, where she rose to management and was significant in her role as the first female restaurant manager. It was there that she met her lifelong friend, Loretta Paquet, and together they worked for over 48 years at many of the Daka restaurants. She made many friends during her years in the hospitality field and was known for her vibrant and friendly personality.
Madeline later moved to Stoneham, where she raised her three daughters. As a devoted mother, she dedicated her spare time to her family and cherished her time with them. Their outings to the "99" for lunch on Saturdays were legendary and filled with laughter and celebrations.
Madeline is lovingly survived by her children: Judith Mannone of Tewksbury, Joanne Chuisa and her husband William, Joyce Exel and her husband Brian, all of Woburn. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Peter McLaughlin, Sarah Fitzmaurice (Robert), Jennifer Chuisa Gelvez, Jessica Chuisa Bedoya (Luis), William Chuisa, Jr., Jeena Chuisa Steffen (Joshua), Jaclyn Stokes and Michael Stokes. She is further survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of the late Charles Mitchell, John Mitchell, Jr., Joseph Mitchell and Marjorie Babicz, and was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and burial are private.
