Amanda was born on November 25, 1967, in St. Joseph, Missouri to her loving parents, Forrest and Valta Hay. Amanda would be the oldest of four children. The Hay family remained mostly in St. Joe.
She attended Central High School in St. Joe. She obtained a job at Burger King. There she met her future husband, Dennis Mueller. Their relationship quickly grew. Amanda and Dennis married soon afterwards on April 27, 1985. Many thought their young age would affect their marriage in a negative way. She was still a high school student when she gave birth to their first child, Heather, on October 4, 1985. Amanda graduated from school in 1986 even though she was a mom. The family moved to Texas after Dennis joined the US Air Force and Amanda gave birth to their second child, Aaron, on June 27, 1989. The family was in Austin, Texas at that time. She considered both children a blessing.
Amanda had several jobs during her life. The previously mentioned job at Burger King, she was a hostess at a hotel, worked at a flower shop and antique store and then found her calling from God. It would become her passion. She was hired by the Plano Independent School District. Amanda was a Special Education paraprofessional. She was great at this job. She enjoyed working with children who had special needs. She loved them, encouraged them, and ultimately helped them to succeed. She knew it was a tough job, and it took a toll on her. She helped so many kids during her 20 years with the district and touched the hearts of so many; and they would recognize her years later when she ran into them. She was heartbroken when she retired.
Amanda was very creative. She enjoyed making flower arrangements, holiday wreaths, as well as other crafts. She really enjoyed making the mums for Heather and Aaron during their high school years. She could make anything and could do anything. She also loved to shop antique stores and her husband did not mind tagging along with her.
Amanda became a grandmother when Heather married her love, Scott Hubbard. They have two children, Brock and Savannah. Aaron would marry his love, Mayra Serrano, a few years later. Mayra had a daughter, Alexa. Amanda considered Alexa her own granddaughter. She treasured the grandkids and wished she could see them every day. She wanted to spoil them at every chance.
Amanda was a Christian believer and came forward to proclaim her belief and was baptized on December 14, 1980, at Green Valley Baptist Church in St. Joe. She spent time with the Lord every day by reading the Bible and making notes in her journals. Dennis and Amanda were members of Hunters Glen Baptist Church in Plano. Amanda had a deep relationship with Jesus.
Amanda was a gift from God to her whole family. She was so loving, caring, and compassionate. She put her family before herself every single time. She believed the family should stay together even though problems would happen. It did not take much to make Amanda happy and she didn't need fancy things. Her treasure was God and family.
Amanda was Dennis' best friend and life partner. They were married for 38 years and did everything together. She will be tremendously missed by her family and all who knew her. She is now standing in heaven next to her earthly father "Woody" and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Bye for now Amanda, we will see you in heaven...
Amanda is survived by her loving husband Dennis Mueller; children Heather Hubbard and her husband Scott and Aaron Mueller and his wife Mayra Serrano; grandchildren Brock and Savannah Hubbard and Alexa Guzman; mother Valta (Hay) Horn; sisters Rebecca Courtney and her husband Mark, Dorinda Pettijohn and her husband Vince; brother JD Hay and his wife Kelly and mother in law Carolyn Mueller.
