Amanda Mullen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Marler Funeral Home - Cushing on Jan. 13, 2026.
Amanda Lynn Mullen, lovingly known to many as a devoted mother, gammie, and nurse, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 54.

Amanda was born on May 19, 1971, in San Leandro, California, to Jerry and Gloria Johnson. She spent her early years attending school in Hayward, California, and later graduated from West High School in Bakersfield, California, in 1989. She continued her education at Bakersfield Community College, where she earned her Associate's degree before fulfilling her calling to become a registered nurse.

Amanda dedicated over 30 years of compassionate service to Kern Medical Center, working in Labor and Delivery. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives, welcoming new beginnings into the world with skill, calm, and a sincere heart. Nursing was more than a profession to Amanda-it was a reflection of who she was: a natural problem solver, deeply caring, and selfless.

Above all, Amanda loved her family fiercely. She found her greatest joy in being a mother and a "Gammie," roles she cherished with her whole heart. She married her best friend, Max, and together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. Amanda adored her two pugs, PeePee and BoyBoy, loved spending time at the beach, and was known for being fun, silly, and full of warmth. Her faith was central to her life, and she loved the Lord deeply.

Amanda is preceded in death by her grandma and grandpa Johnson, grandma and grandpa Barrett; mother-in-law, Alma Mullen, father-in-law, John Mullen, daughter-in-law, Hanniah Sales, and Sister Alicia Bircumshaw.

Amanda is survived by her four children: Ashley Simpson (James), Austin Rhoades (Cecelia), Aaron Rhoades, and Logan Mullen; both parents: Gloria and Jerry Johnson; eight grandchildren: Kyleigh, Kassidy, Amelia, Clairah, Moirah, August, Aaron Jr., Quinnly; one brother, Michael Johnson (Darlisa); best friend, Max Mullen. Amanda is also survived by many friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Amanda Lynn Mullen leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service that will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
