Amber LaVon Shaw (Seleen) 1-15-1986 - 5-14-2025
Blessed be her memory as she was taken to her heavenly home after a courageous fight with cancer. Amber, age 39 was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 15, 1986 to Mike and Laura (Peet) Seleen. She attended Perham High School and graduated in June of 2004. During high school Amber worked at Perham Living in the home health office (through school), dietary, and then she obtained her Nursing Assistant certification caring for residents of Perham Living. During Amber’s young life she was highly active in church and volunteering. Her experiences through Perham living, roles at Camp Joy, and volunteering at the Minnesota Veterans Home played a role in her life and career. Little did she know, she first laid eyes on her husband at the Richville United Methodist Church where Amber was confirmed and baptized. Amber led her life knowing the Lord God was in control.
Amber’s love for others blossomed as she became a Licensed Practical Nurse in April 2012. Her nursing career included transitional care in Perham, clinic in Frazee, and clinic in Perham Health where she felt she could work the rest of her life. Amber also took on part time jobs to make ends meet as waitressing and bar tending where she safely transported many people home after a night of fun.
Amber would mostly like to be remembered for her endless love for her family: her husband, Chad; her children, Isiah 18 (Ella), and Allison 7; also, her brothers, Brandon (Heather), James (Vanessa); mom and dad, Laura and Mike Seleen; mother-in-law, Val Shaw; her aunt Patt (Jeff) Seleen; uncle Don (Jayne) Peet, many nieces, nephews, and friends, too many to mention, but Mandy Putnam, her friend since birth who she loved as a sister; and her Godmother who held her close to her heart Linda Mikkelson. Preceded in death by her father-in-Law, Glen Shaw; grandparents, Lloyd and LaVon Seleen and Jim and Joyce Peet; aunt, Karen Mastros; and cousin, Kent Trehus.
A special thank-you to the staff at Perham Health who treated her as family.
Oh, how she will be missed!
