Amelia Basadre Obituary
Amelia was born on January 9, 1927 in Las Arenas, Cuba to the late Jose Mastrapa and Josefa Melero. She spent her early life in Cuba before coming to the United States in 1948. She had resided in Newark before moving to Metuchen in 1952.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and making her house a home for her family. Amelia loved flowers, especially flowers, and besides being a mother, she was also a member of YMCA's Younger by the Years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jose Basadre in 1996 and her daughter, Mercedes Basadre, in 2023.
She is survived by her daughter, Amelia Bennett of Metuchen, and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 27) Metuchen, with a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:00am, followed by the entombment at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway
