William Nann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home - Metuchen on Feb. 17, 2026.
William "Bill" C. Nann Sr., 75, of Metuchen, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, February 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Bill attended Upsala College, where he played football, and went on to start the insurance division of The Nann Agency in 1970. He led the business with dedication and integrity until his retirement in 2020 and served as Past President of the Independent Insurance Agents of New Jersey. A man devoted to his community, Bill served on the Metuchen Town Council, was a Past Master of his Free Mason Lodge, a member of the Elks Club, and a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen.

Bill was a man of many talents and passions. He was a skilled carpenter who loved to build things with his hands, the drummer in his band, The Classics, and a loyal Mets fan who never missed a chance to cheer them on. Above all, he found his greatest joy in time spent with family.

For years, Bill fought a courageous battle with COPD, and five years ago, he was blessed with the extraordinary gift of a lung transplant that gave him a second chance at life. Those five years were a gift his family will forever be grateful for. Just last year, Bill was able to visit his beloved Lake George one final time, a memory his family will treasure always.

He is predeceased by his parents, Robert A. Nann Sr. and Carol Anita (née Walther), and his brother, Robert A. Nann Jr.

Bill is survived by his wife of 28 years, Irene Morris-Nann of Metuchen; his five children: W. Craig Nann Jr. (Karen) of Freeport, FL, Kyle Nann (Beth) of Brownsburg, IN, Lyndsey Belle Garibaldi (Jeff) of Summit, NJ, Kelly Nann Lepore (Steve) of South River, NJ, and Nicholas DiStefano (Valerie) of Metuchen, NJ; his seven grandchildren: Erin, Jamie, Nicholas, Joseph, Madelyn, Kai, and Kiel; his great-grandson, Leo; and his beloved dogs, Bogart, Hemingway, and Cash.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home in Metuchen. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Metuchen, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen Food Pantry in loving memory of Bill.
