Irene Glinsky Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home - Metuchen on Feb. 11, 2026.
Irene Gyalog Glinsky, 91, of Edison, passed away on February 10, 2026, peacefully at her residence in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Irene was the daughter of Vera and Joseph Gyalog. She was the sister to Margaret Antal and Frank Gyalog, who preceded Irene's passing.

Irene was the mother of Alex and Lisa Glinsky. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Glinsky (d. 2015). Irene and Lisa loved to gamble and travel. They would vacation in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. After Lisa's passing, Irene and Alex would go out to eat regularly. Irene loved eating at the Outback and loved shopping at the Dollar Tree stores. Above all, Irene loved her children deeply and was a caring, devoted, and selfless mother.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Glinsky Sr. (d. 2020).

Irene was the best grandma to Alex's pups. She loved her boys and never missed a chance to spoil them with treats and toys. Irene fondly remembered Louie, Parker, and Dill, whom she missed dearly after they crossed over the rainbow bridge. Dexter loved visiting Grandma and would smother her with endless kisses.

Irene dedicated many years of service to her community and employers. She worked for fifteen years at Westinghouse Electric in Edison, fourteen years at Metex Corporation, and seven years at Private Formulations. She also served as secretary to the mayor of Highland Park, New Jersey, a role she carried out with pride and professionalism.

Known for her warmth, kindness, and quick wit, Irene had a special way of making everyone feel welcome. She generously crocheted quilts for friends and fellow residents at her assisted living community, sharing comfort and love through her handiwork. She was truly cherished by all who knew her.

Irene will be deeply missed by her son Alex, relatives, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

The Visitation is Friday, February 20, 2026, from 4-7pm at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen.

The Funeral will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 9:45am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, Metuchen, followed by a 10:15am Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. The entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
