Bela J. Geczo

Bela J. Geczo, 93, of Woodbridge passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

Born in Csikszereda, Romania, Bela emigrated with the United States from Austria and has resided in Woodbridge for 68 years. He was employed with Berger Industries in Metuchen for 33 years, retiring as Vice President of the company and later owned and operated Barnett's Liquors in Cranford with his son. Bela was a proud founding member of the Hungarian American Citizens Club in Port Reading and a longstanding parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Woodbridge. Bela devoted his life to his family, including his children and grandchildren, enjoyed cooking ethnic Hungarian meals, fishing the Delaware River and keeping his heritage close to him throughout his life.

Bela was predeceased by his wife in 2023, Maria Geczo; sister, Hajnal Geczo along with his daughter in law, Judit Geczo. Surviving are his two sons, William Geczo with his wife Szuzanna and Steve Geczo with his wife Larysa Shulha; grandchildren, Alexandra, Jessica, Nikolett, Monika and Eniko along with his great granddaughter, Csilla.

Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Monday, March 2, 2026 from GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 411 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Woodbridge. Entombment will follow at St. James Cemetery Mausoleum, Woodbridge.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 1pm to 4pm at the funeral home.
