Amelia "Tiny" Lucero

A melia "Tiny" Lucero was born on December 22, 1926 to Roman Garcia and Refugio de Los Angeles (Benavidez) Garcia in Terrero, New Mexico a small mining town in northern New Mexico.

She attended Pecos (New Mexico) public schools and completed the tenth grade. She achieved her GED diploma at the age of 60.

She set out to find her fortune and traveled to California and Colorado. It was in Denver where she met a handsome young man named Antonio (Tony) Lucero who was digging the sewer line for her father's house.

They were married in Rowe, New Mexico in 1948 and started their family. They were married for 76 years.

As a wife to a military man, Tiny followed her husband dutifully across the country and gave birth to six children. They settled in Brighton and lived there for 73 years. Tiny is survived by her husband, Tony. She is also survived by her children: Edna Lucero (Dick Jensen), Gerald Lucero (Andrea), Antonio Lucero (Laura), Terry Lucero, Lori Ysac (Frank) and Romaine Lucero-Lowe (Rob). She is also survived by her brothers Ronald Martin and Roman Garcia and sister, Jenni De Volder all of New Mexico.

She will be reunited in heaven with her daughter Wanda, great-granddaughter Ivianna, her siblings: Deluvina, Celeste, Pablo and Joseph, her parents and countless other friends and relatives.

Amelia was a faithful parishioner at St. Augustine's Catholic Church for over 70 years. She was a member of the Society of the Holy Family, the Legion of Mary, Daughters of St. Monica and sang in the Spanish Choir for many years. Her four decades of service to the St. Augustine Food Pantry exemplified her care for her community and love for her faith.

She traveled extensively with her husband and family, first within the United States and then ultimately internationally; visiting 10 countries and having the opportunity to see the Pope on two separate occasions.

She loved her home and her flower gardens.

She is a grandmother to 40 children, great grandmother to 33 and great-great grandmother to 5.

She died on August 11th, 2025, in the family home surrounded by her family to take her rightful place in Heaven

While she is no longer with us, her spirit of love and service to others will live on through her loving husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

May God Grant Her Eternal Peace
