Amelia Ann "Millie" (nee Marcozzi) McMinn

Amelia A. "Millie" (nee Marcozzi) McMinn, a longtime resident of Mentor, Oh., passed away Sept. 4, 2025 at 88 years old, having been born in Grindstone, Penn. July 17, 1937, and dedicated her life to her family and the Catholic Church.

Millie was a woman of extraordinary strength and warmth, earning the love and admiration of everyone she met, particularly her grandchildren. As a dedicated wife and mother, she and Gene recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. Millie and Gene's extensive community engagement had earned them a multitude of friends, who will deeply miss her.

Following a 30 year tenue at General Electric, Millie retired at 62, having many friends that she still kept in touch with. She was an exceptional cook, known for her handmade lady fingers and her mother's treasured recipe for spaghetti and meatballs, which has been passed down through 3 generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stefano and Mary Marcozzi of Rowes Run, Penn., both of whom migrated to the United States from Italy in the 1900's; her brothers and their wives, Benjamin (Angela), John (Ava), Louis (Virginia), Marvin (Mary) and Ernest (Marian Rae) Marcozzi; and her nephews, Steven and Louis Marcozzi, who she lost to cancer.

Millie is survived by her husband, Walter "Gene" McMinn; daughters, Kim (John Zito) Pizzoferrato, Pamela Cognati and Tina McMinn; grandchildren, Kelli Pizzoferrato, Kaitlyn Pizzoferrato (Logan Sussman), Nichole Cognati (Akram Sweis), Candice Cognati (Ryan Pugh) and Anthony (Cristina) Cognati; great-grandchildren, Armani, Noelle, Giovanni, Isabella and Dominic; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins in the United States and her father Stefano's family in Sacrafano, Italy.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2), Mentor, with a Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Fr. Alex Clark to officiate. Interment to follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
