It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Amelia "Meyang" Lozares Delos Reyes. She peacefully entered eternal rest on July 11, 2025, at the age of 85. Amelia spent the last two decades of her life residing in Vallejo, CA with her daughter, May, and her family. Born on May 30, 1940, in General Trias, Cavite, Philippines, Amelia was the eldest of Feliciano and Marcellana Lozares' thirteen children. From a young age, she naturally embraced the role of Big Sister, diligently caring for her younger siblings while her parents worked to support their growing family. Amelia graduated from Cavite National High School with the Class of '57 and remained a very engaged alumna to her Alma Mater, actively coordinating high school reunions both in the Philippines and the US, enjoying reminiscing fond memories with her classmates. Following her graduation, Amelia embarked on her career as a Bookkeeper for Saulog Transit, a prominent bus company in the Philippines, working alongside her father who was their Accountant. In 1964, Amelia met her future husband, Angel Delos Reyes, at a Homecoming Dance. A quick courtship led to marriage, after which she relocated to the US to join Angel, then enlisted with the US Navy. Their family grew to include four beloved children: Angelo, May, Ray, and Cris. During periods of her husband's overseas deployments, Amelia embraced the demanding role of a solo parent, ensuring her children's well-being and upbringing. After her husband's military career concluded in 1977, Amelia and her family relocated to the Philippines to embark on a new chapter. This transition presented considerable challenges, requiring Amelia to make significant personal sacrifices. Nevertheless, she faced these difficulties with remarkable perseverance. Throughout it all, she radiated kindness, selflessness, and an unwavering generosity, consistently placing her family's well-being above her own, at any cost. Driven by a desire to reconnect with family and help care for their mother, Amelia made the decision to return to the United States with her daughter in 1990. Beyond her immediate family, she witnessed her nieces and nephews grow from being kids into adulthood and celebrated their milestones, including their weddings. Among them, Amelia shared a strong and special connection with her niece, Emily Anne, whom she cared for since she was nine months old. This cherished bond led the family to affectionately call her as "Mama Mey". The year 1999 marked a special milestone for Amelia as she welcomed her first grandson, Neil, into the world. She would later be blessed with four more grandchildren – Raian, Chloe, Kristine, and Kimberly – all of whom she cherished and indulged wholeheartedly. Her dedication extended to their schooling, where she eagerly volunteered, assisting teachers with assignments and even organizing lively PTA events. In her leisure time, Amelia found pleasure in organized casino bus tours, enjoying games of BINGO, tackling hidden word puzzles, and faithfully following Filipino soap operas. She also particularly loved listening to the timeless hits of Engelbert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, and Neil Sedaka. But above all, Amelia's greatest happiness stems from seeing her entire family together and seizing any chance to connect with her siblings. Amelia suffered a devastating loss in 2014 when her eldest son, Angelo, unexpectedly passed away. This deep grief profoundly affected her, causing her health to slowly decline as if a part of her spirit departed with him. However, surrounded by the steadfast love and unwavering support of her family, she found the strength to overcome this profound sorrow. Amelia has now found eternal peace, joining her firstborn in Heaven. Amelia's memory will be cherished by a vast network of family and friends. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: May (Nilo), Ray (Anamie), and Cris (Lorily); five grandchildren: Neil, Raian, Chloe, Kristine, and Kimberly; her eleven siblings: Odeng, Ardie, Beto, Linda, Yolly, Romy, Jovan, Bubuth, Lois, Marlyn, and Kelly; her brothers-in-laws Tino, Jun, Mike, Emil and Bob; her sisters-in-laws Maring and Nicky; and countless beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Amelia is preceded in death by her parents Feliciano and Marcellana Lozares, husband Angel, eldest son Angelo, brother Jimmy, and sisters-in-laws Lina & Odeana. Visitation/Viewing will take place at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St, Vallejo, CA on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 5 PM A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 3450 Tennessee St, Vallejo, CA on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 12 Noon. Committal Prayers and Placement of Urn will be held privately on a later date at All Soul Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Rd, Vallejo, CA 94591.
