Amelia Saenz Sanchez, 78, of Monahans, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on July 17, 2024. Amelia was born on January 18, 1946, to Pedro Saenz and Barbara Valles in Sanderson, Texas. She married Jubentino Sanchez on May 5, 1961. They were happily married for 58 years and together had 4 children. Amelia worked for MSystem in the meat market and retired after many years with the Monahans Wickett Pyote Independent School District junior high cafeteria. She enjoyed spending time with family and playing her beloved game of bingo.
Amelia is proceeded in death by her loving husband, Jubentino Sanchez; parents, Pedro Saenz (Ignacia Saenz) and Barbara Valles (Pablo Valles); sisters, Gloria Vejil and Yolanda Ordonez.
Amelia is survived by her sons, Jubentino (Elena) Sanchez and Mitchell Sanchez; daughters, Rosemary Sanchez and Paula (John) Cota all of Monahans, Texas; brothers, Pablo (Denise) Valles,and Joe David Saenz; sisters, Elsa Alaniz and Irene Dominguez; brother in law, Henry Ordonez. Amelia was the proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be as follows: Anthony Cota, Tino Cota, Jaeden Sanchez, Edward Marquez, Osvaldo Huertas, Coby Wade, Ryan Sanchez and Derek Sanchez.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 19, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM and also on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home, with a rosary scheduled on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 7:00 PM at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Church. Mass will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Apostle and Evangelist Church with a burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Thaung and the Monahans Sandhills Clinic, Ward Memorial Hospital, Midland Texas Oncology, Angel Hands Hospice Care and all the doctors, nurses and EMTs that provided care for their beloved mother and grandmother.
