America Barraza Da Silva, age 104, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in the loving arms of her youngest daughter. Her long life was rich with adventure, love, and laughter, leaving behind a legacy of joy and treasured memories.
Born in Cojutepeque, El Salvador, America was a woman of insatiable curiosity and an enduring passion for life. As a young chess champion, she traveled internationally, later visiting loved ones abroad, including her brothers in France and the United States; where she met the love of her life. Her adventurous spirit inspired everyone she met to embrace new experiences and never shy away from "a little hard work". No matter the journey, she believed in dressing impeccably and always maintaining one's character.
She was a devoted wife to the late Manuel V. Da Silva and a loving mother to her daughters June, Alice, and Virginia. She took great joy in her grandchildren, Nicole, Jonathan, Preston, and Jennifer, and delighted in getting to know her six great-grandchildren. Her family was the heart of her world. She thrived on sharing her family history, culture and stories of her enduring love, through unwavering support. America's elegance, comedic wit, and love for life's finer things made her unforgettable.
Beyond her family, America touched the lives of many through her faith, friendships, and generous heart. She was a source of strength, wisdom, and warmth. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
