Amesworth Gilson

Amesworth "Amos" William George Gilson Sr., 81, of Honesdale, died on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Rosalie Davis.
Born on June 13, 1944 in Masthope, PA, he was the son of the late Delzine and Lillian (Strait) Gilson. Amos served in the Pennsylvania National Gaurd for several years. He owned and operated his own trucking company for 54 years before retiring. He enjoyed his work which took up most of his time. When he had the opportunity to slow down, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amos Gilson Jr. and wife Amy, Mike Gilson and wife Mary, Francine Schemitz, Frank Gilson and wife Tiffany and Amy Gilson and Bob Bunting all of Honesdale; his sisters, Stella, Nancy and Kimberline Gilson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Grace Gelatt and husband Cody, Matia Schwab, Destiny Montambault and husband Michael, John Gilson, Russell Schemitz, Lydia Gilson and Devon Gilson. Also surviving is his K-9 companion, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Gilson, Delzine Gilson, Mary Johnson, Francis Gilson, Charles Gilson, Rose Meszler and Winifred Gilson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
