Gary M. Flood, 62, of Honesdale, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 surrounded by family and friends after a hard fought battle with glioblastoma. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Kathleen "Kate" Roegner. The couple married on September 18, 1993.
Gary was born on October 13, 1962 in Carbondale. He was the son of the late Marjorie (Olver) Schofield and raised by his step-father, the late James Schofield. Gary owned and operated Gary Flood Surveying and recently retired.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking and was a member of the Clover Leaf Hunting Club. He enjoyed traveling the world with friends and family. As a kid, he and his family loved to spend time on Elk Lake. Gary was happy he could continue to share that love with his family today.
Surviving are his children, Rachel Flood of Albany, NY and Eric Flood of Honesdale; his brothers, Kerry Schofield and wife Carol of Myerstown, Pa, John Schofield and fiance Nicole of Litiz, PA and Fred Schofield and wife Marlene of Clarks Summit, PA; his sisters, Jean Hartzell of Waymart and Judy Platt and husband Charlie of Glenmoore, PA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bob Flood and Tom Flood.
Donations in Gary's memory can be made to the GBM Foundation (www.gbmfoundation.com), an organization working to eliminate brain cancer.
Cremation arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale. A celebration of life will be held August 9th at 5pm at Jake's Elk Lake Tavern in Waymart.
