Mr. Aminmohamed "Moon" Nurmohamed

Aminmohamed "Moon" Nurmohamed, 64, of Benton passed away August 4, 2013. Moon was born on June 14, 1949 in Mombasa, Kenya to Kamrumdin and Rehmatkhanu Nurmohamed. Early in life, Moon gained a reputation of a skilled competitor in the sport of cricket and after coming to America, he enjoyed related sports of softball and soccer. He arrived in the USA in 1973 and after graduating from Ferris State University with a degree in Automotive Technology, he accepted a position with Oldsmobile Corporation. Moon loved the auto industry, working in the wholesale and retail sectors, culminating in the ownership of Hope Motor Company in 2001. In 2003 he received the "Most Improved Dealer" award from General Motors Minority Dealer Association. Finally retiring in 2005, due to illness, he maintained his love of the auto industry and the friendships he had forged there. He also began traveling more to Michigan, Texas, Florida, Canada and Mexico. Moon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 36 years; Kathleen (Kate McManus) Nurmohamed of Benton, three children; Naiveen Nurmohamed of Benton, AR, Alia O'Neill (Jim) of Houston, TX, Jamal Nurmohamed (Heather) of Hope, AR, two siblings; Hassan Nurmohamed (Lisa) of Cape Coral, FL, Ali Nurmohamed (Nelin) of Pickering, Ontario, and two grandchildren; Zarah Nurmohamed and Kameron "KC" Nurmohamed of Benton, AR. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in Moon's name to Baptist Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210-9979. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday , August 7, 2013 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5N., Alexander, Arkansas 72002 with Paul Sheets officiating.
