Ana Maria Caram

Ana Maria Caram, 74, of South Whitehall Twp., unexpectedly passed away February 7, 2021 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. She was the loving wife of Hugo S. Caram and together they celebrated their 50th anniversary last July. Ana Maria was a chemical engineer with Keystone Cement. Prior to that, she worked two decades as an environmental engineer at Bethlehem Steel. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she was the daughter of the late Raimundo and Margarita (Leone) Galletti. She graduated from the University of Buenos Aires and received Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and Business Administration from Lehigh University. She was a devoted mother to her children Sylvia, Alex, and Justin as well as their spouses Michael Insogna, Chloe Koo and Lauren Wisk. Her grandchildren Michael, Viviana, Sofia and Chase were central to her life and she took great joy in exposing them to art and history museums, musical performances and at-home science activities. She is survived by her sisters Cecilia, Maggie, and brother Domingo and their spouses Roberto Sotelo, Norberto Cerrutti and Sylvia Galleti, her sister-in-law Maria Elena Caram and husband Roberto Eilbaum and nieces and nephews: Ana Isabel, Adriana, Daniel, Gabriela, Andres, Rafael, Norberto, Patrick, Valerie, Nicolas, and Lucia. Ana Maria filled her life with travel, adventure, and a commitment to social justice. She was active in the Latino community of the Lehigh Valley and an elections official. Happy memories came from watching her children perform music, riding horseback in the Salta Mountains of Northern Argentina, rowing a canoe across the lakes of Minnesota and visiting her family's ancestral home in Italy's Piemonte region. She loved much and was much loved. Her presence will always stay with us. Services: Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday at 12:30PM followed by a funeral mass at 1:30PM at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Orefield.
