Andre Chamoun
February 16, 1951 – June 22, 2025
It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andre Chamoun, who left this world peacefully on June 22, at the age of 74, surrounded by his cherished family at home.
Born in Lebanon on February 16, 1951, Andre carried the soul of his homeland wherever he went. He had a deep love for his country's history, culture, and people-and was always eager to share stories of Lebanon with anyone who would listen.
Andre is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Gladys Chamoun, with whom he shared a marriage marked by unwavering love and quiet devotion. Together, they built a beautiful life full of warmth, laughter, and deep-rooted family values. Andre was the deeply proud father of Marie-Ange Malyarovich (married to Alexander Malyarovich) and Julien Chamoun (married to Diana Merheb). He adored his five grandchildren-Joseph-Pierre, Oliver, Talia, Elise, and Emilia-who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Laurie Shammami, and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Andre was predeceased by his beloved siblings: Pierre Chamoun, Rosette Fares, Marie Moussawer, Yvonne Rizkallah, Violette Chamoun, and Simon Chamoun.
Those who knew Andre will remember him as profoundly kind, soft-spoken, and endlessly generous with his time and love. He never raised his voice, never uttered a curse, and led by quiet example. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was a voracious reader, especially of history and science, and always found joy in learning and sharing his knowledge. He worked as a draftsman for over 30 years, a testament to his work ethic and discipline. For a time, he even pursued his dream of owning a restaurant-a nod to his deep appreciation for good food and bringing people together.
But above all, Andre's greatest joy came from his role as a grandfather. He loved his grandchildren with fierce devotion, and the bond he shared with them will live on in their hearts forever.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 24th from 7:00–9:00 PM, and the funeral will take place on Wednesday, June 25th at 10:30 AM, both at St. Mark's Syriac Orthodox Cathedral in Paramus, NJ.

A Gentle Hero
Author Unknown
He never sought the spotlight's glow,
Or asked the world to see.
His hands were worn, his voice was low,
His heart held quietly.
He showed his love in steady ways,
In all he built and gave-
A thousand quiet, ordinary days
That shaped the lives he saved.
He read, he worked, he listened deep,
He spoke with thoughtful grace.
And in his love, so wide and steep,
We all could find our place.
He didn't need grand words or praise,
To leave a legacy.
His greatest joy was children's gaze-
Their laughter, wild and free.
A gentle hero, through and through,
He taught us how to be:
Kind, steadfast, humble, wise, and true-
And love relentlessly.
