His Life Story Andre Dorrell Kellam-Topping was born on October 17, 1965 in Seaford, Delaware. Andre was the beloved son of Nellie "Cherry" Topping and the late Leon Topping, Sr. He departed his earthly life on September 13, 2025 in Onancock, Virginia.
Andre was baptized at a young age. He was educated in Accomack County Public Schools. At 17, Andre enrolled in Job Corps, where he pursued his passions with dedication. He became a certified travel welder, earning his certification from the Eastern Shore Community College. He also earned certifications in Culinary Arts and Hospitality.
His love for cooking was evident in the family dinners he prepared-moments that created lasting memories of connection, laughter, and full bellies.
His Essence To know Andre was to know authenticity. He spoke his mind openly, never holding back when he had something to say. His quick wit often shone through, especially in the way he playfully teased his family. He was known to joke about who had the "biggest lips" or the "biggest head," turning ordinary moments into memories filled with laughter.
Andre also had a knack for bargaining like no other-able to negotiate prices in seconds. True to form, he was bold enough to eat half a meal at a restaurant, complain it wasn't any good, and still walk away with a refund! His passion for food was passed down to his children, who share his love for cooking and eating-a living proof that his legacy continues at every family table.
Beyond the humor, Andre carried a kind soul. He cared deeply for his family, his friends, and all those who became "family" through love rather than blood. He loved to dance, cherished music, and carried himself with an energy that could light up any room.
One of his favorite songs, "Sky Walker" by Miguel, held special meaning for him. It reminded him of his late son, Shyheim Andre Kellam-Griffin, with whom he now rejoins in spirit.
His Legacy, His Family Andre will be remembered as outspoken, down-to-earth, and always true to himself. He gave love freely, raised others as if they were his own, and created memories that will live on through every life he touched. His legacy is one of love, laughter, music, and resilience.
Left to cherish Andre's memory and continue his legacy are loving mother, Nellie "Cherry" Topping, and his wife Tamara Topping.
He is also survived by his caring sisters, Joyce Topping and Denise (Modie) Topping-Griffin, brother, Leon Topping, Jr., and by his beloved children: Tamecia Bennett, Denae Cobb, Andrea "KeYanna" Topping, Shemar Kellam-Griffin, and Zharia Topping.
Andre's greatest joy was found in his grandchildren-Da'Shan Davis, Kamani Griffin, Rui Alston, and Win Alston-who will carry forward his laughter, love, and legacy.
Loving godmother, Hilda Fitzgerald; special friends, Randall (Dale) Harris, "Prince," Mary Ann and all his friends at Accomac Manor aka "The Whole in the Wall."
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A Spiritual Message from Family & Loved Ones "Baggy, our hearts will forever carry your laughter, your bold spirit, and your love. Though your body has returned to rest, your soul has taken flight-dancing to the music you loved, cooking in the kitchens of heaven, and smiling down on us with that same wit and charm we'll never forget.
You were a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a husband, a grandfather, a cousin, and a friend-but you were also so much more: the glue that brought us together, the voice that spoke truth, the spirit that reminded us to live boldly and love deeply.
As your children, we thank you for your lessons and your love. As your wife, I thank you for your devotion and companionship. As your mother, I release you into the arms of the Creator with pride and peace. As your grandchildren, we carry your light in our laughter and innocence. As your siblings, cousins, and friends, we will keep your memory alive in our stories, our music, our family tables, and the love we share.
You are free now, Baggy-dancing in eternity, reunited with those who went before you. Guide us from above, as you always did here on earth. Until we meet again, your spirit lives through us all."
