Andrea Lee Szalkowski

Andrea Lee Szalkowski, age 54 of Macomb, passed away on January 14, 2022 surrounded by the love of her family.
Andrea was born on May 4, 1967 to Richard and Bernice Michels in Warren, Michigan. Andrea would go on to meet the love of her life, and future husband Anthony Szalkowski. Together, Andrea and Anthony would raise four beloved children: Daniel, Marc, Andrew, and Anna-Kate. Andrea attended Wayne State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. She was an extremely hard working and devoted teacher of 25 years, inspiring countless young minds that she saw over. Andrea was known to all for being always a positive, and optimistic person even when life would get hard. She could always see the brighter side of anything. Family meant the world to Andrea, and spending time with her beloved family was her true joy (especially being able to enjoy a good meal with them all). And she always made sure to attend all her children's sporting events. Andrea was always an active person, going to the gym with her dear husband Anthony and walking the trails at Stoney Creek. Andrea's beautiful spirit, and loving heart will be missed by all who loved her.
Loving sister of Christopher (Pam) Michels, Lisa (Jim) Fouchia, and Sheila (Greg) Cote; loved sister-in-law of Rhonda Michels. Andrea also is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family, and countless friends.
Andrea joins in heaven her dear parents Richard and Bernice Michels, and beloved brother Thomas Michels.
Memorial Mass to take place on Thursday, January 20 at St. Isidore Catholic Church on 23 Mile and Romeo Plank Road. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Mass at 10:00 AM.
