Wendy Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors- Milford on Mar. 2, 2026.
Wendy Sue Davis, age 68, of Milford, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026.

Born in Detroit, Wendy was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Norval Scott and Mrs. Eloise Scott (McQueen). She spent her early childhood in Royal Oak before her family relocated to Spokane and later to California. Eventually, the family returned to the Detroit area, where her father served as a professor at Wayne State University.

Wendy shared a close bond with her sisters, Jennifer (Neil) Wasilk and Janine Scott (Lou Bonacich), a connection she cherished throughout her life.

As life carried her across the country, Wendy made homes in Harlingen and The Woodlands, Texas; John Day, Oregon; Rochester, Farmington Hills, and ultimately Milford, Michigan. Wherever she lived, she built community, offered kindness, and left lasting impressions.

As a young woman in South Texas, Wendy baked professionally and quickly became known for her exceptional cheesecakes and carrot cakes - recipes that would become her signature for decades to come. Even after she transitioned into education, her love of baking never faded. Family gatherings and celebrations were made sweeter by her thoughtful and delicious creations, especially her beloved cheesecakes.

Wendy had a natural gift for working with children. From teaching gymnastics and leading summer camps to instructing water safety at a young age, she demonstrated early on the patience, warmth, and encouragement that would define her career. She began her work as an educator in Texas and continued teaching in Oregon and Michigan. Her career spanned elementary through high school levels and included both special education and gifted programs. Deeply committed to her profession, Wendy pursued extensive postgraduate studies and developed significant expertise in testing and evaluation methods. She found fulfillment in helping students discover their strengths and reach their potential.

Although she valued her professional accomplishments, Wendy's greatest joy was her family and living out her Christian faith. In retirement, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to both. She was a beloved wife and soulmate to Philip Charteris, a loving and devoted mother to her son, Dr. William Davis (Krystie), and a proud and adoring grandmother to Liam, Joey, and Adalynn Davis. She also cared deeply for her stepchildren, Dr. Nick Charteris (Yangyang Shao) and G. C. Charteris.

Wendy will be remembered for her steady faith, her generous heart, her dedication to children, and the warmth she brought into every room - often accompanied by a homemade dessert. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the family she treasured, and the love she gave so freely.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home in Milford, Michigan. Funeral service to begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
