We gather here to pay tribute to Andres Burgos, known affectionately as 'Andy' to his loved ones, who graced this world with his vibrant spirit from July 3, 1948, to March 21, 2024. Born in the lush landscape of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Andres' journey took him across the globe, from Chicago to Florida, and finally to his home in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a man of manifold talents, a dedicated maintenance man at Vistana Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, a general contractor, and remarkably, a former employee of the FBI, retiring in 2012. His life was a testament to his resilience, determination, and spirit, a life lived fully and passionately, guided by the words from the Book of Proverbs 16:3, "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
Andy's love for life was evident in his hobbies, which ranged from his time as a baseball manager to his love for playing dominoes, swimming, and cooking on the grill. He was an accomplished musician, whose rhythms resonated in the hearts of those he touched. Yet, it was his role as a family man that truly defined Andres. Married to his beloved wife, Ana, since May 22, 1971, he was a devoted father to Andres Jr. and Christopher. His love for his family was profound and immeasurable, always prioritizing family union above all else. A man who loved to jest, Andres' sense of humor brightened countless lives, his sayings like "Buenas," "Estoy seco seco seco," "Take it like a man," "Que haces, que hiciste, que vas hacer?" and "Ya comiste," will continue to echo in the laughter of his loved ones.
Andres Burgos was a pillar of strength and unity in every community he belonged to, always involved with sports and recreation, promoting unity through sports. He was a beacon of hope, a source of inspiration, and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Andres was preceded in death by his parents, Alberto Burgos and Estebania Ruiz.
Services will take place on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM., at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by his burial at Oak Grove Cemetery of Springfield Inc., 426 Bay Street, Springfield, Massachusetts.
In honor of Andres, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs on his memorial page. Let us remember Andres Burgos, not for his departure, but for the vibrant life he lived, the love he gave, and the happiness he spread. As we continue to navigate through life, let us remember his words, his laughter, and his unwavering spirit, knowing that his legacy will forever live within us.
