Andrew "Andy" De Kam Obituary

Published by Yntema Funeral Home on Dec. 23, 2021.
Andrew "Andy" De Kam, age 83, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer. View the funeral service here: https://www.facebook.com/LangelandSterenbergFuneralHome/videos/889401558373127 Andy, with his wife Gloria, was a proud owner and operator of De Vries and Dornbos Draperies in Holland for many years. He was currently a member of Community Reformed Church. He was a hard worker and a man of integrity. He was proud of his kids and grandkids and was an "active" father and grandfather. His faith was strong and was evident to them and others. No matter what his grandkids were involved in, he was there watching. He was a good friend and will be missed by all. Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria earlier this year. He is survived by his children, Donald (KyongSun) De Kam, Brenda De Kam, Jeanna Spoors; grandchildren, Andrew De Kam, Emily (Mark) Stout, Jonathan De Kam, Dominic (Erin) Spoors, Joseph Spoors, Jeremiah De Kam, Evelyn De Kam; siblings, Pete (Helene) De Kam, Al (Lorraine) De Kam, Jo Burgenmeyer, Jane Boehm, Judy (Bob) De Boer, Will (Kathy) De Kam, Glenda (Charlie) Brouwer, Marilyn (Patrick) Bush, Ivan (Ebun) De Kam, Shirley (Gord) Sterk; his sister-in-law, Joyce Mulder; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In an effort to be as cautious and safe as possible, the family would ask that guests please wear a face mask, at both the visitation and the service. Thank you. Visitation with the family is 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland, MI 49464. A celebration of Andy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch St. Zeeland, MI 49464. Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Andy's honor may be given to Bethany Christian Services Refugee Relief or Hospice of Holland. www.yntemafh.com

Deep and sincere sympathy to the children and grandchildren of Andy. May he live forever in your hearts. I have been so thankful for his Facebook and email influence in my life the past 5 years at least and will miss that.
