Andrew Bartell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Earle Funeral Home - Erial on Jul. 4, 2024.
Andrew J. Bartell, known affectionately as Andy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024 at his home in Erial, NJ. Born on August 30, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA, Andy was a beacon of joy and friendship to all who knew him.
Andy dedicated 32 years of his life to Herman's Deli in NJ, where his skills as a cook were only surpassed by his ability to make customers feel like family. His commitment to community extended beyond his professional life; he served with distinction as a NJSIAA baseball and softball umpire at many South Jersey high schools. Andy's passion for sports also found him involved as a referee and a long-time board member of the Gloucester Township Hockey Alliance. A proud and long-time resident of the Erial section of Gloucester Township, NJ, Andy had formerly lived in Blackwood.
His love for sports was undeniable, as he was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, Phillies, and Eagles. Andy found solace and camaraderie in fishing, never missing an opportunity to cast a line into "the pond" with the guys or to enjoy a day of fresh water fishing.
Andy's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Tina Bartell (nee Colwell), his children Dyane Bartell (Eric Tucker), Michael Bartell (Meghan), Joshua Bartell (Theresa), and Andrew Bartell (Maricel). He was predeceased by his daughter, Noel Bartell. He was a cherished brother to Raymond O. Bartell, Jr. (Patricia), Thomas H. Bartell (Lisa), and Joan D. Smedley (David). Andy's joy for life will be fondly remembered by his adoring grandchildren: Luke, Michael Jr., Keira, Joshua Jr., Graycie, Landon, Brady, Sebastian, Alexia, Camina, Rhianna, Autumn, and Mimi. A loving uncle, he also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Andy's parents, the late Raymond O. Bartell and the late Joan E. McAdams, instilled in him the values of love, hard work, and dedication that he carried throughout his life and shared generously with others.
Andy's warmth, laughter, and creative spirit touched many lives. He will be deeply missed but his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Cornerstone Fellowship, 76 Porter Ave. Sicklerville, NJ (Erial) 08081, where a service will begin at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory would be appreciated to the Gloucester Township Hockey Alliance at: https://www.gthapanthers.org/donations/
