Ronald C. May, Sr., affectionately known as Ron, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 18th at his daughter's home in Sicklerville, NJ. Born on February 15, 1936, in Camden, NJ, Ron was a man whose life was marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a love for life's simple pleasures.
Ron leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Thelma M. May (nee Tunis), his children Robin Buckley (Wayne), Rhonda Jaconski (Michael), and Ronald C. May, Jr. (Wayne). He was the cherished brother of Lila May Havens and the proud grandfather to Rhonda, Katie, Wayne, Jr., Amanda, Alyssa, Danny, Michael, Angela, and Sandy. His joy was further multiplied by his great-grandchildren Damian, Mackenzie, Matthew, Aidan, Jayson, and Jorden. Ron's memory will also be treasured by his adored fur baby, Daisey May, and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father, the late Herbert F. May, and mother, the late Ruth C. May (nee Luckel), Ron's early years in Camden laid the foundation for a life characterized by resilience and a strong work ethic. His service as a United States Marine Corps veteran spoke to his deep sense of patriotism and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Ron became a long-time truck driver, a career that showcased his reliability and dedication.
Ron's interests painted the picture of a man who found the greatest joy in the familiar and the familial. An avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, he relished the opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams, often from the comfort of his own home. A homebody at heart, Ron's idea of a perfect day was spent in the company of his family, perhaps watching a game, with the aroma of his lovingly prepared meals filling the air. His culinary skills were just one of the many ways he expressed his love and generosity to those around him.
Despite his tough exterior, those who knew Ron understood the kindness and gentleness that lay within. He was a loving husband and caring father, whose actions consistently demonstrated his devotion to his family. His friends will remember the good times shared on the golf course, where Ron enjoyed both the game and the camaraderie.
Ron lived in Williamstown for over 40 years, where he built a life rich in community and friendship. In his later years, he resided in Woodstown, NJ, where he continued to embrace the joys of life with his characteristic warmth and generosity.
As we bid farewell to Ronald C. May, Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a man who truly made the world a better place simply by being in it. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told, the meals shared, and the love that endures in the hearts of his family and friends.
