Andrew Benton Obituary

McKinney, Texas - Andrew Robert Benton Born in Brownsville, Texas October 16, 1992 - May 17, 2025

Our dear Andrew, a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, fiancé, and friend, was a graduate of Hanna High School and U.T.R.G.V. where he obtained his Bachelor's in Communications. Andrew was a very loving, sensitive, loud, and funny child and adult. His extroverted personality would light up a room. He loved to make others laugh. He had an intuitive understanding of other people's feelings and felt things deeply. Andrew was an excellent athlete and loved Michigan sports teams which he 'inherited' from his father. He was an avid fisherman, having spent hours with his dad on the Laguna Madre and Gulf of Mexico. He was an enthusiastic cook who loved sharing his passion for cooking with family and friends. His passing leaves a hole as big as the Grand Canyon in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was loved and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his father, Barry (Jeannie) Benton, mother, Gwen Taliancich, siblings, Andrea Vela, Javier Vela II, Amanda (Jeremy) Bales, Elizabeth (Mark) Scherler, fiancé Edith Ruiz, niece Alexandra Vela, nephew Jay Vela, great-nephew Christopher, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, cats, and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Matthew and Juanita Taliancich, Bob and Maxine Benton, Aunt Sara Benton, and cousin Chase Nunez.

Public visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24th at 11am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a service from 12-2pm.

Pallbearers:

Javier Vela, Jay Vela, Jeremy Bales, Bobby Nunez, Samuel Nunez, Albert Lekach, Anthony Garza, David Noh, and Marte Contreras

Honorary Pallbearers:

Barry Benton, Dean Taliancich, Robin Taliancich, Billy Taliancich, Kenny Taliancich, Wiliam Taliancich, and Bob Nunez

In honor of Andrew, we ask you to please wear any Detroit Lions, Pistons, Tigers, Red Wings or Michigan State Spartans, attire/gear that you may have.

I only knew Andrew a little less than a year here at work, he quickly became someone who would talk to everyone and was always kind. On his Super Friday (last day before vacation) he was so excited to have his first Super Friday as we both headed out the door we talked about the love we share with our cats. Andrew had a heart of gold and his kindness will be dearly missed. Prayers for his family for some sort of comfort as you go through this difficult time.

For the short time that Andrew worked at Kenan Advantage there was never a dull moment. He was funny, positive and would encourage any of us on a hard day. He will truly be missed. I will keep his family in my prayers.
