Andrew A. Ferrante, 93, of Spring Hill, FL. he passes away March 27, 2024. He was born in Long Island City, NY.
Andrew is predeceased by his wife Annette B. Ferrante.
Andrew is survived by his children, Eugenia (Michael) Colanianni, Rosemarie Ferrante, and Pasquale (Jerri) Ferrante; Grandchildren, Glenn (Christina) Schoenmetz, Laura (Christopher) Fabrizio, Andrew (Dorina) Schoenmetz; great grandchildren, Juliana (Evelyn) Fabrizio.
Andrew Ferrante's journey through life was woven with threads of dedication, service, and unwavering commitment. Born into a large family of 2 brothers and 3 sisters, he grew up with a strong sense of duty and responsibility. Upon graduating high school, Andrew felt a calling to serve his country, and thus, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
During the times of the Korean War, Andrew found himself aboard the USS Salem, where his role as a radioman played a crucial part in communication amidst the chaos of conflict. His time in the Navy instilled in him values of discipline, camaraderie, and resilience that would shape his character for years to come.
After his military service, Andrew returned home and found love in Annette, whom he married soon after for 64 years. Together, they embarked on a new chapter, settling in Long Island, New York. Andrew joined the ranks of the US Postal Service, where he served diligently as a letter carrier for an 33 years. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his community, evident in his volunteer service as a volunteer firefighter.
In the midst of his busy career and community involvement, Andrew and Annette welcomed three children into their lives: Eugenia, Rosemarie, and Pasquale. Family remained the cornerstone of Andrew's existence, providing him with purpose and joy amidst life's challenges. Andrew got to see not only 3 beautiful grandchildren be brought into the world but also saw the addition of 2 great grandchildren.
Upon retiring from the post office, Andrew continued to seek opportunities for service and engagement. He found work in the mailroom at Fireman's Fund Insurance, staying true to his roots while embracing new endeavors.
Relocating to Florida, Andrew immersed himself in the community, becoming an avid softball player and volunteering at hospitals, offering support to the staff. His commitment to faith and service led him to join the Knights of Columbus, where he earned the esteemed honor of a 4th degree Knight, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his beliefs and his community.
Throughout his life, Andrew Ferrante exemplified the values of duty, honor, and service. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew hiim, not only for his jokester ways but his love of cooking, buying new cars, watches (what seemed to be every 3 months) and his love for his family.
