On Saturday, April 16, 2022, God's angels came and took Andrew K (Kenny) Fisher, age 72, to his final resting place. He passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife.
Kenny was born September 28, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois to Andrew Lewis Fisher and Opal Daisy Huling Fisher. At a young age, his family moved back to Pensacola, FL, where he spent his childhood enjoying the beach, surfing, and fishing.
In 1969, Kenny was drafted into the U.S. Army but instead chose to join the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. After the war, he returned home to Pensacola, FL in 1972, and received his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and began a career as a truck driver. He then met the love of his life, Cheryl Dean Carter. They wed on June 8, 1973, and began life's journey to building a home and family. During their 48 years of marriage, they had two children, and five grandchildren. In 1986, Kenny began his long-term employment of 27 years with ABF Freight Company until his retirement in 2013.
Kenny walked through life with a Christian faith, as a loving husband, father, and the best Paw ever! His wife always said, "that man would do anything for me and our children." His daughters will always cherish reflections of his unconditional love and support. He never missed special events, such as fieldtrips, school dances, Friday night football games, birthday parties, etc. He loved spoiling his grandchildren and as they would say, "he made the best cheese grits ever." He loved his grand-puppies and grand-horses. Kenny was a heartfelt friend to many and seemed to never meet a stranger. His entertaining humor always placed a smile upon the face of others. He was known for his genuine appreciation for food as he welcomed everyone to his table. He loved fried chicken and often talked his daughters into dropping off his favorite food or sweets.
Kenny had many hobbies, including building radio-controlled planes, collecting guns, and was an avid reader of all gun, ammo, and hunting materials. He had a sincere passion for auto mechanics and motocross racing. His fondness for motocross racing and mechanics was unmistakable as he independently and enduringly restored his 69 Chevy Camaro. Kenny also enjoyed riding his sport cruiser motorcycle.
Kenny has now joined his parents, Andrew Lewis Fisher and Opal Daisy Huling Fisher; his brother, James Floyd Fisher; and his sister, Mary (Victor) Walsh.
Kenny is lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheryl Fisher; his daughters, Courtney (Chad) Williams and Cameron (Barrett) Lay; five grandchildren, Camden, Makenley, Bella, Maggie Rose, and Molly; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Services will be officiated by Pastor Tom Sharon and held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Lewis Funeral Home (Pace) followed by a full Military Graveside Service at Pensacola NAS Barrancas National Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11 a.m., funeral service at 11:30 a.m., and graveside at 2 p.m.
