Andrew Joseph Fisher of Sandy Hook, Connecticut took his own life on Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at the age of 43. He is survived by his Wife (Corrie Fisher), Son (Collin Fisher), Father (William 'Chris' Fisher), and Brother, Sister-in-law, & nieces (Adam, Kim, Gwen, & Cameron Fisher). Andrew's mother (Joann Fisher) passed away in 2014. He graduated from Danbury High School in 1999 and was proudly involved in the JROTC program.
Andrew's greatest joy in life was his son. He loved teaching Collin about the way things work, history, the world in general, nature, how to fix things, and so much more. Andrew loved to tell a story, or to teach somebody about history via a relatable story. His "long story short" would never be short... he had too much to share! He also took great delight in making people laugh.
Andrew was well loved by his friends, family, and extended family of customers. He, along with Corrie, owned and operated The Fairy Dogmother, LLC, Mobile Grooming. The relationships he made with 'his dogs' and their people brought a great deal of pride to Andrew, as well as a feeling of acceptance. He loved to hear about other people's lives & careers and found it fascinating to learn about how they got to where they are. His customers have shared how kind and caring he was, as well as how proud he was to talk about Collin & Corrie and their adventures. He was also an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for spending time in nature by hiking, fishing, and hunting. This love began when his family moved to Danbury in 1986 to a home that backed up to a large, wooded wetland, which he spent a great deal of time playing in and exploring with his brother and neighbor. His love for fishing was fostered by a neighbor named George Wilkinson, who took Andrew under his wing, becoming a grandfather figure and teaching Andrew all there is to know about trout fishing in the area.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St, Newtown.

I always enjoyed chatting with Andrew hearing about his camping or just talking about life in general. My dogs weren't as excited to see Andrew but boy they looked fantastic when he was done grooming them. That wasn't an easy task since they were big hairy Golden Retrievers. Lucy was particularly crafty about running away when she heard the unmistakable sound of the grooming van arriving.
