Doris Marie Lester

Doris Marie (Hawley) Lester, of Southwick, MA, passed away on July 13, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. She was 81 years old and lived most of her life in West Hartford, CT. Born and raised in Danbury, CT, Doris graduated from Danbury High School in 1961. She studied nursing at UConn, graduating in 1965, and worked as a registered nurse until her retirement from Hartford Hospital. Doris was active in her church, the Universalist Church of West Hartford. She was a deacon for several years and was a founding member of the bell choir. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, solving jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, David; her son, David, and his wife, Rosemary, and their children, Kristina and Kurt; her daughter, Kristin, and her son, Aidyn; and her sister, Carolyn, and her family. A memorial service for Doris will be held Sunday, August 24th, at the Universalist Church, 433 Fern Street, West Hartford, CT, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
