Andrew “Andy” Garcia, 72, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 17, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 1605 Oak Hill Ave, Lawrence, KS.
Andy was born on November 10, 1952, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Antonio Sr. and Hazel (Salinas) Garcia. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, Andy worked in brick and concrete labor, but his greatest role was that of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
On November 10, 1989, Andy married Lydia Garcia in Lawrence, and together they built a welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. Lydia preceded him in death on March 16, 2025.
Andy is survived by his three sons, Ramon (Tami) Garcia, Jr., Arlindo (Kelli) Garcia, and Antonio (Rosanna) Garcia, all of Lawrence; step-daughter Ricaela Hernandez-Garcia of Lawrence; brother James Garcia of Lawrence; twenty-one grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Lydia, two brothers, three sisters, and one great-grandson.
Andy will be remembered for his service, his hard work, his generosity, and above all, his unwavering love for his family.
Memorial donations may be made in Andy’s honor to the Lawrence Humane Society and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
