Andrew Gonzalez, 76, of Friendswood, Texas passed away November 8th, 2023, in Friendswood, Texas after journeying well. He was born January 10th, 1947, to Francisco Toribio Gonzalez and Carmen Marichalar Gonzalez in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon Mexico.
He served in the United States Army and attended Airborne Paratrooper school. After graduation, he served a 14-month tour with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. Andrew was assigned to an Artillery Battalion Fire Direction Control Unit. In 1969, he received an honorable discharge and was awarded the Bronze Star. Andrew was also awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Parachute Badge.
After attending Lee College, South Texas College, and various technical training programs, he spent most of his life working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Prior to his retirement, he held various roles in Information Technology during his time at NASA. He was extremely proud of his role and support of the advancement of space exploration.
He enjoyed remaining disciplined and fit throughout his journey. He enjoyed various forms of exercising, but bike riding was at the top of the list. His favorite pastime was spending time with his friends and family but mostly spoiling his nieces and nephews with his love and wisdom.
Andrew is survived by his sister, Maria "Mary" Antonia Gonzalez of Houston, Texas, and his brother Francisco "Frank" Ramon Gonzalez (Gloria) of Pasadena, Texas. His nephew Jesse "Kito" Rodriguez (Jodi) and their two sons; Jesse (Johna) and Justin (Kylie). His niece Patti L. Rodriguez, his nephew Marc Gonzalez (Cathy) and their son Matthew. His nephew James A. Rodriguez (Alex) and their three sons; Luke, Zach and Nico. His nephew Robert Rodriguez (Jim) and their children Ashley and Andy (Anna). His niece Kristina Brock and son Westley. His niece Nicole Aguirre (Orlando) and their two daughters; Peyton and Mila.
Andrew was preceded in death by his father Francisco Toribio Gonzalez, his mother Carmen Marichalar Gonzalez, his brother- in-law Jesse Rodriguez, his sister Rosa Neli Rodriguez and his great nephew Everett Williams.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to celebrate the life of this incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend. Services will be held at the San Jacinto Funeral Home at 14659 East Fwy, Houston, TX 77015. The service will be held on Saturday December 2nd beginning at 12pm. A graveside service will immediately follow.

My condolences to the Gonzales family.
Andrew was a good friend. I remember
on occasion seeing him weight lifting
and bench pressing, while riding my bike
On my way to Glenn’s grocery store. He
lived on Pine st. He was always fit and disciplined. A great American Patriot.
