Andrew Wortham Grimaud, Sr.
Andrew Wortham Grimaud, Sr. of Thomson, Georgia was called home Friday, September 20th, 2024. Andrew was born July 9th, 1940 in Augusta, Georgia and moved to Columbia County in 1943, where he and his family founded Grimaud Dairy. Andrew helped his parents, the late George F. Grimaud, Sr. and the late Fannie Wortham Grimaud and eight siblings run the family farm until it was closed in 1963. Andrew married the love of his life, Patricia Theo Lamb in 1958 and soon built their family home on the Grimaud Dairy property where they raised their three children. In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lamb; sister, Amy G. Reville; and brothers, Arthur, George and David Grimaud.
Andrew graduated from Evans High School in 1957 and was an original employee of Proctor & Gamble of Augusta until he retired. After retirement, Andrew and Pat briefly moved to Lincoln County and then settled in Washington, Georgia until Pat's death in 2013. Andrew then moved to Thomson, Georgia to be close to his son and lived there until his passing.
Andrew was a charter member and Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church in Martinez, Georgia, as well as, a charter member and Deacon of New Works Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia, and a current member of First Baptist Church of Washington, Georgia where he has served faithfully as a past Deacon, a greeter and in the men's ministry for the past twenty years. Andrew was also a past president of the CSRA Gun/Dog Beagle Club and an active member of Wilkes County Young Farmers.
Along with his passion for furthering God's ministry and mentoring young men, Andrew loved to hunt, fish, camp, farm, and scour flea-markets near and wide for "treasures." His favorite finds were Coca-Cola collectables, pocket knives and antique fishing rods. Being raised on a farm, Andrew had a love for cows, chickens and animals of all kind, but particularly loved beagles and a short-haired pointer named Rock, who was his constant companion until the day Andrew passed.
Survivors include his daughters, Mandy Grimaud Jackson (Tim), Joy Grimaud Cartledge James); son, Andrew Wortham Grimaud, Jr. (Nora); sisters, Ann G. Hogan, Rudy G. Olson, Yvonne G. Knox, Nancy G. Thomas; sisters- in-law, Martha Jean Grimaud and Karla Grimaud; grandchildren, Chase Jackson (Erin), Hunter Jackson, Katie Scarboro (Jason), Jake Cartledge (Daniela), Bryce Cartledge (Rebecca), Andrew W. Grimaud,III (Alicia), Andrew David Grimaud (Caitlin) and Alecia G. Bradshaw (Adam); great grandchildren, Lucy, Charlotte, and Brooks Jackson, Carson, Waylon, Austin Scarboro and Cash Cartledge, G. W., Ella Walden,Everett Bradshaw and Charleigh Grimaud.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday September 23, 2024 at First Baptist Washington with Rev. Phil Pilgrim officiating. Interment will follow at Washington Wilkes Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 10:30 until 11:30 AM prior to the service. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
