DATELINE: KINGS MOUNTAIN, NORTH CAROLINA
Andrew Gordon Guffey
Andrew Gordon Guffey, 51, of Grover, NC, passed away on September 06, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. Born in Gaston County, NC, He was Son of the late Linda Louise Stephens Guffey Biggers and was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Gordon & Dorothy Guffey and maternal grandparents Hoyt & Nanie Stephens.
Andy was never married or had children. He loved his family and friends. He operated heavy equipment for many years and worked many odd jobs. He could do just about any task such as repairing small engines, working on motorcycles, scooters, grass cutting, painting, and pressure washing. Like his dear friend, Tommy Hawkins stated, "Andy knew a little bit about everything". He loved to watch the Dukes of Hazard when he was a little boy and still mentioned those TV episodes over the years, he really never met a stranger, he could talk to anyone. He was a "salesman" who could talk you into doing things for him or for other people that he knew. Andy loved to go to the flea market, he collected and like to give away watches and small pocket knives. He had a kind heart, he had compassion on people and tried to help those who he could. He had a hard life, met with many hardships but kept on keeping on.
The last few months of his life, he had aggressive stomach cancer. He was in pain, yet declared that he had to keep going. He never quit trusting in the Lord for his healing. He would say, "I am going to beat this, I'm a winner either way". Finally, he turned his life over to Christ and surrendered all to Him. With the help and encouragement of the Fellowship, brothers & sisters in Christ and many precious saints; Andy has made it to his eternal home. He is no longer in pain.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Donald and Lois Ellis, Tommy and Kay Hawkins and Scott and Jada Hardin for their generosity to Andy over the years.
