Obituary of Andrew B. Lo Iacono
Andrew Benjamin Lo Iacono, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator and musician, passed away following a brief illness on November 22, 2025, in Morristown, New Jersey, at the age of 95.
Born on June 18, 1930, in Lodi, New Jersey, to Joseph and Agata Lo Iacono (née Polizotto), Andrew grew up as an only child deeply loved by his parents. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he honorably served during the Korean War. His musical talent led him to a coveted place in the Air Force Band, where he played the trumpet; an experience that shaped his life and fueled his enduring passion for music.
Following his military service, Andrew pursued his musical aspirations. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Manhattan School of Music and went on to earn two Master's Degrees, one in Music Education followed by a second Master's Degree in Administration, from Columbia University.
Andrew began his teaching career in a New Jersey high school where he directed the school's marching band program before becoming a music teacher in Rockland County, New York. There, he inspired generations of students, many of whom fondly remember him not only as a teacher but as a mentor. His dedication to music education, his steady guidance, and his deep knowledge left a lasting impact on countless young musicians.
Andrew was a man of wide interests and quiet passions. He was an avid reader, especially of history, and found joy and serenity in fly fishing. He even learned to ride a motorcycle in his 60's, embracing new experiences with courage and curiosity.
Above all, Andrew was a devoted family man-reliable, strong and compassionate. He was deeply proud of his Sicilian heritage and cherished the traditions, stories, and values passed down through his family. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his favorite pup, Rosie, was unwavering and evident in every aspect of his life.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Lo Iacono; his son Keir Lo Iacono; his daughters Christina Lionetti and Andrea Perkinson; his daughter-in-law Joanie Lo Iacono; son-in-law Andrew Lionetti and his grandchildren Brendan, Connor, Cassidy, Arianna, Olivia, Dina, and Tara.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agata, and his beloved grandson, John.
Andrew will be remembered for his kindness, strength, musical talent, and unwavering devotion to family. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the students he inspired.
