Andrew was born on August 27, 1951 in South Bend to the late Anna (Nemeth) Karafa and Andrew J. Karafa. Andrew married the love of his life Charlotte Takacs on September 25, 1971, and they were married for 45 years before she passed away in 2016.

Left to cherish the memories of Andrew are his sons, Andrew J. (Darla) Karafa and Frank J. (Andrea) Karafa; his grandchildren, Alex, AJ, Lila, Iris, Walker, Anna, and Abby; his brother David (Shirley) Karafa; and several nieces and nephews.

Andrew founded Derby Inc., a company that made custom pouches and cases, in 1974 and ran it until 2017 when he transitioned into his retirement. He loved to cook especially Hungarian food for holidays and weekend gatherings. Andrew also enjoyed traveling, he and Charlotte would go camping in his RV and take Canadian fishing trips. But above all he adored his grandchildren. He will be remembered by many for his humor, wisdom and generosity.

A private service will be held on Saturday October 25, 2025 at St. Joseph Funeral Home 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, IN 46619. With burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
