Cecil James Fisher, 83, of North Judson, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on January 22, 1942, in Knox, Indiana, to Cecil and Grace (Marshall) Fisher. In 1961, he married Lois (Jackson) Fisher. Together, they built a home and raised three children on a piece of the family farm, where they lived out their lives.
He worked for the Ford Stamping Plant as a forklift driver, retiring after 30 years. After retirement, he worked his dream job-driving tractors for local farmers-for many years.
Jim loved the outdoors. He spent his spare time fishing, hunting, bowling, and going to auctions. In his later years, he enjoyed keeping his park-like farm trails groomed for the pleasure of enjoying nature, riding his golf cart, visiting with family out back, and watching wildlife.
His greatest joy was his family. He was a great father, but he truly shined as a Papaw/Pa/Grandpa Fish. He spent as much time as he could being around his grandchildren, attending sports events with his football-playing grandsons and great-grandsons, and even going on many school trips with his grandchildren to Washington, D.C., and Europe.
Surviving are his three children: Tammy Dolezal of New Carlisle, IN; Jim (Lynn) Fisher of Bolingbrook, IL; and Vicki (Tony) Economos of LaPorte, IN. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Bobby (Jennifer) Whitenack; Bryan (Maggie) Dolezal; Tyler (Hanna) Dolezal; Jessica (Nelsen) Padillo; Jaquelynn (Alex) Fabrizio; Gavin (Bridget), Trevor and Faith Fisher. In addition, he leaves behind bonus grandchildren: Cody, Grace, Weston, Lexi, Dawson, and Paisley Bailey; and seven great-grandchildren: Hunter and Haden Whitenack; Lee Atherton and Brody Dolezal; and Scarlett, Stetsen, and Asher Padillo.
Also surviving are his brother, Leroy Fisher, and sisters: Bethel Fisher, Birtha Blue, Carol Collins, Marilyn (Gary) Lockridge, Phyllis (Jeff) Shepherd, and Rose Wireman, Larry (Ann) Jackson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Fisher; and a special friend, Judy Bailey. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Jack Fisher, Rosella (Jason) Fletcher, Mary (Perry) Thompson, and Betty Fisher.
Per the family's request, there will be no services for Cecil Fisher at this time. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
