David P. Karafa, of Copemish, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 73.
David is lovingly remembered by his children, Jason (Lori), Jeff (Shri), and Courtney; his cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Kaitlyn (Andrew), Seth, and Emma; and his adored great-grandchildren, Bennet and Carson. Though no longer married, David maintained a lasting bond and enduring friendship with his former wife, Kathleen Karafa, who remained a meaningful part of his life.
A dedicated and familiar face at Meijer in Traverse City, David devoted 37 years of hard work and friendship to his career. Beyond the workplace, his greatest joy came from spending time with family. Whether it was time at home, cheering on his grandkids, or stories shared around the table, his warmth and humor were always present.
David found happiness in the simple and spirited traditions of life. He especially looked forward to deer camp each year with his sons and lifelong friends, a treasured ritual filled with laughter, storytelling, and camaraderie. In his younger days, he loved playing softball, and throughout the years he remained passionate about mushroom hunting and fantasy football. His enthusiasm for life also extended to the open road; David was never without a sports car, always drawn to their sleek lines and the thrill of the drive.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, easy smile, and the unwavering love he held for his family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 18719 Viaduct Rd, Copemish. Arrangements with Jowett Family Funeral Home of Benzonia.
