Andrew "Andy" A. Kominiak, Jr., age 91, of Bethany Beach, DE formerly of Flanders, NJ passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.
Andy was born in Montville, NJ on December 3, 1932 son of the late Andrew A. Kominiak and the late Mary Elizabeth (Korkes) Kominiak. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War.
Andy retired as an Electrical Product Designer from Elastimold working with that company from 1970-2000. After moving to Delaware, Andy enjoyed volunteering his time with Mason Dixon VFW Post #7234 in Ocean View, DE, where he served in the Honor Guard and also volunteered for the Sunday brunches where he was known as the "Toastmaster".
Andy enjoyed working on puzzles, was an avid reader and was proud to be an Eagle Scout. He took pride in his home and yard and was a talented gardener. He and his wife, Rose loved to travel around the world. They had a strong bond with Kihei, Maui where, for over 20 years they spent three months during the winter there volunteering with a whale watching organization.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Rose Marie Kominiak in January of 2024, Andy is survived by three children, Donna Terreri (Keith) of Lewisville, TX, Mark Kominiak of Park City, UT and Cheryl Harrington (Jon) of Ocean, NJ and 5 grandchildren, Krystopher Terreri, Lindsay Terreri, Madison Terreri, Sean Harrington and Brandon Harrington.
A prayer service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 in the chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Andy's name to Mason Dixon VFW Post #7234, 29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View, DE 19970.
