Andrew "Andy" S. Lutz II 97 of Farmington, CT passed away on Friday, May 2nd, 2025. He was born on November 28,1927 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Andrew S. Lutz and Mary Seaboldt. He graduated from John Harris High School in 1946 and joined the army shortly after. Andy had a passion for music, joining the jazz band as a tenor saxophonist in high school, and continuing to play for the army jazz band during his time of enlistment. After his time in the army, he attended Hillyer College in Hartford, Connecticut and obtained an associate's degree. Andy also had a passion for flying and owned his own Waco airplane that he flew for a short period of time. He worked for the Motorlease Corporation in Farmington, Connecticut for 42 years and retired in 1992 as Vice President of Sales and a member of the Board of Directors. He served on various civic boards and committees throughout his professional career. In retirement he volunteered at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, the Connecticut Air Museum, and was a member of the Insurance City Chorus (barbershop quartet groups) for many years. He was a long-standing member of the First Church of Christ in Farmington, and a member of their church choir. He was also a member of various senior golf and bowling leagues. Later in life Andy met his partner Joan, with whom he lovingly spent the last 20 years. They wintered in Florida, traveled, played golf and bowled together, and were always there to "make each other laugh".
Andy is survived by his son Bradford and his wife Holly Bessoni Lutz, and son Bryon Lutz and his partner William Kanute. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Justin Lutz, his wife Laleh Abbassi, and their son Shayan, Kara Debaie, her husband Wyatt DeBaie, and their children Benjamin, Noah, and Elliott, and Hallie Lutz, her husband Matt Khatchadourian, and their son Jack Andrew. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his partner Joan Horan.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill CT, on Friday May 16th, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am with Services to follow. Burial with military honors will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
