Phyllis Russell

Phyllis Scarborough Russell passed away Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 at the age of 101 at The Jefferson House in Newington, CT. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Harold and Ethel (Trebert) Scarborough. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Harold E. Russell Jr.
Phyllis resided in Newington all her life. She attended Newington public schools and eventually worked as a secretary for the Newington Board of Education for over 25 years until her retirement. Living in Newington her entire life she enjoyed talking about its history and all the changes over the years.
Phyllis was very creative and loved doing crafts, as well as sewing. She had a passion for gardening and took pride in the flowers she grew. She also loved animals and over her lifetime raised several breeds of dogs. Her other passion was her house at Bashan Lake in Moodus, CT where many wonderful memories were made.
Phyllis is survived by her son Wade Russell and his wife Bernadette; her granddaughter Melissa Tramadeo and her husband Paul, and her granddaughter Samantha King; as well as three beautiful great grandchildren Harrison and Harper King and Luca Tramadeo.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Jefferson House for the kindness and care provided to Phyllis. In honor of Phyllis' wishes there will be no funeral. A Private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
