Andrew (Andy) Aloysius Malburg of Macomb passed away June 20, 2024 at the age of 90.
Andy was born on December 22, 1933 in Sterling, Michigan, currently known as Sterling Heights. Andy was one of nine children born to his parents John and Agnes (Rhein) Malburg. On April 25, 1959 Andy married Theresa Forro at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, together they had four children and were married 65 years.
Andy worked as a carpenter at General Motors Technical Center for 30 years. He loved wood working and was always eager to help family and friends with wood working projects. Andy grew up in a farming family, and had always maintained his love of farming and love of John Deere tractors. After working long days at GM, Andy would come home to a family supper and then get on the tractor to cultivate his vegetable garden. Theresa and the children farmed with their father, bringing the family together. Andy also enjoyed taking the family on camping and canoeing trips in Michigan, and one year they travelled as far as Yellowstone National Park to see "Yogi Bear".
In his retirement, Andy built a beautiful home and barn in Almont, where he continued his farming and enjoyed supplying family, friends and neighbors with fresh produce. In the winters, Andy and Theresa went to Lake Wales Florida to escape the cold. They developed many friends there from across the country. Whether they were located in Almont or Lake Wales, many
evenings were spent playing cards with friends and neighbors. Andy truly enjoyed hosting visitors and made sure everyone's favorite beverage was always on hand.
Beloved husband of Theresa; loving father of Julie (Gary) Blancke, Andy (Betty) Malburg, Kathy (Greg) Pratt and Beth (Dan) Gwyn; treasured grandfather of Eric, Nick (Amy), Ryan (Alessandra), Pam (Alex), Cindy (Jon), Madelyn, Evan, John (Kim), Dan, Elizabeth (Dave), Gordon (Heather), Melanie (Byron), Melissa (Dan) and Brian (Amanda); adored great-grandfather of 16 with one on the way; and cherished brother of Sylvester (the late Elizabeth). Andy was predeceased by his remaining siblings Helen (William) Colpaert, Leo (Rita) Malburg, Louise (Henry) DeCook, Martha Malburg, Irene (Dennis) Brender, John Malburg and George Malburg; as well as his parents John and Agnes Malburg. Andy was also survived by many
nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
A memorial mass will take place Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with an instate time of 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Road, Macomb.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation.

I was blessed with a good friend the day I met Andy at General Motors. He was one of the first coworkers who excepted me as a newbie, which I always appreciated. One of the truly great people.

Grandpa Andy always had a welcoming hug and a warm smile/muuuaaa with every visit. On our visit to Florida last winter he was getting ready to get up and go to bed, but before he did, he looked over, grabbed his walker like a motorcycle and went vroom vroom!! He was a blast all the way to the end

So sorry for your family's loss. Andy was a wonderful man and I can't even picture him in my head without his ever present smile.
